DIY Easy Wand Tutorial
After the release of Eighth installment of Harry Potter series, it's quite nostalgic to visit again the magical world of Wizards and Hogwarts. After reading Cursed Child, all I want some props so I can satisfy my cravings for more wizardry feels. I tried to search for DIY wand tutorials on Pintrest. I found one, that things require to make a wand were available in my storage box.
Anyway, I attempted and it was a successful attempt. Many people asked about it but unfortunately I didn't pin the post thus somehow, I lost it.
So here it is, an easy peasy tutorial. Hope you guys can understand it too. hehe
What you will need:
One A4 size paper.
Glue.
Hot Glue Gun.
Hot Glue Gun plastic sticks.
Acrylic Paints.
Oil Piants.(optional)
Procedure:
I initially used skewers to make wands but it turned out mini wands. It was dangerous too because there was a great risk of poking in someone's eye.
So lets get start with paper sheet.
Start rolling the paper from one edge. Keep it rolling tightly with both hands. Until a stick is born. lol.
It will look like this. Seal the end by using glue.
Now heat the hot glue gun for 5-7 minutes and apply the melted glue over the both ends to give a proper wand shape.
First, it will look ugly but hey the work isn't done yet. Now take the gun and draw the pattern on the stick like whatever you want. I opted for swirl one. It is the most simple design so far.
Handling hot glue gun can be a bit risky so deal it carefully.
It still looks ugly. But hey the favorite part is coming. Take out your brush and paint it. Use acrylic colors because they give shinny effect to the wand. Let it dry. If you opt oil paints they give a versatile detailing effect but it requires days to get dry completely. I used acrylic colors to make it quick. They get dry within the matters of minutes. You don't need to be brand conscious. Use whatever color is available. Preferably brown and shades of brown. Mix with little bit of other colors. If you use oil paints you have to spray lacquer for finishing and final effect.
Also, you can add design of any wizard's wand on the stick.. It's fun, it's easy and less time consuming. I hope you will it's easy for you because I can't find more easier tutorial for DIY wand. Use it as prop or play wizard. If you try this, don't forget to show me on Instagram.
Until next time.
With love, Ciao.
